Barrel Sauna Specs Compared
How we make money: some links on this page are affiliate links, so we may earn a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. Local pros may pay us for quote requests. Neither changes what we write. Full disclosure.
This table puts 80 barrel saunas sold in the US side by side, so you can check fit, wiring, and delivery weight before you get attached to one. It covers Almost Heaven (including its Costco models), Redwood Outdoors, Dundalk LeisureCraft, SaunaLife, Backyard Discovery, Golden Designs, Thermory, Finnmark, and Heritage.
Every value comes from the manufacturer's or retailer's own listing or spec PDF. A dash means the seller doesn't publish that spec. Click Model, Seats, Heater, Weight, or Price to sort. The filters narrow the list by brand, size, heater, and wiring.
If you sort by price, remember that SaunaLife, Thermory, and Dundalk sell their kits without a heater. You'll buy the heater on top of the listed price, and that heater's manual decides what circuit you need. For live prices from every seller we track and price history, see the barrel sauna price tracker.

How to Read This Table
- Seats: This is the maker's own count. Any extra detail the seller gives, such as bench length, appears under the number, and bench length is a better guide to fit than the label. If you want room to stretch out, size up from the number of people who'll use it most. Our best barrel saunas guide goes deeper on fit for our top picks.
- Exterior: These are the outside dimensions in inches, usually width by depth by height. Not every brand uses that order. Redwood Outdoors lists length first, Dundalk lists depth first, and Thermory gives length and diameter in feet, so check the labels before you measure your yard. A porch or changing room adds depth, so a model with one needs a longer pad than the same barrel without it. As a starting point, an 8-by-8-foot pad suits a 6-foot barrel. Our barrel sauna foundation guide explains how to plan the base.
- Wood: This is the species or treatment, plus stave thickness in inches where the seller publishes it.
- Heater: This is the size of the included heater in kilowatts. "Wood option" means the model is also sold with a wood-burning stove. "Not included" means you choose and buy the heater yourself. The two Finnmark models pair a traditional heater with an infrared one.
- Circuit: This is the dedicated 240-volt circuit the seller specifies for the included heater. The bigger the heater, the bigger the breaker. The 6 kW Almost Heaven Salem calls for 30 amps, the 8 kW Huntington for 40 amps, and the 9 kW Backyard Discovery Paxton for 50 amps. Where a row says only "240V hardwired," the heater's manual gives the breaker size. Kits sold without a heater (SaunaLife, Thermory, and Dundalk) need whatever circuit your chosen heater calls for, or none if you burn wood. Our sauna wiring guide explains breaker sizes.
- Window / Porch: This covers the door glass, any rear or front window, and extras like a porch, canopy, or changing room.
- Weight: Figures marked "shipping" are the crate or pallet weight, which is what lands in your driveway on delivery day. Other figures are the weight the seller lists for the sauna. Either way you're dealing with several hundred to well over a thousand pounds of wood and hardware. Plan how you'll move the pieces from where the truck drops them to the pad, and line up helpers before delivery day.
- Warranty: This column covers the sauna room only. Heater coverage is shorter. The Harvia heaters on Almost Heaven and Redwood models, for example, carry 1 year on the elements and 5 years on other parts. Labor is usually excluded, so if a covered part fails, you'd still pay someone to swap it.
- Price: This is the lowest price we tracked on the date in the table caption, with the seller named underneath. Shipping terms and stock differ from seller to seller, so check the listing before you buy. "Dealer quote" means no seller we track posts a price. The barrel sauna price tracker shows every offer we check.
From Shortlist to Installed Cost
The kit price is only part of the bill. You'll also pay for a pad, a dedicated circuit, assembly if you don't build it yourself, and a permit where your town requires one. The wiring bill depends mostly on how far the sauna sits from your panel and whether the panel has room for another 240-volt breaker. A short run next to the house costs far less than a trench to the back of the yard.
Once you've narrowed the list, our best barrel saunas guide makes the case for specific models, and the barrel sauna cost calculator estimates the installed cost, including the pad, wiring, permit, and assembly.
This page is for planning, not electrical or assembly instructions. Follow your sauna and heater manuals, use a licensed electrician for the wiring, and check permit rules with your local building department.
