This directory lists 18 Minnesota businesses that install outdoor saunas, build them on site, or build and deliver them, grouped by region. Each card shows what the business says it does, where it works, and a link to the page we checked in October 2026. Call two or three in your area and have your sauna model, a few site photos, and the distance to your electrical panel ready, so they can price your actual job instead of guessing.
Line up your quotes so each one covers the same work. The businesses above don't all do the same job. Some build a custom sauna and deliver it, some sell and install barrel kits, and a few also take on the pad or the electrical hookup.
Send the basics up front: your sauna model or the size you want, a few photos of the spot, and the distance from that spot to your electrical panel. With those in hand, a business can price your actual job instead of guessing.
Ask what the price includes: delivery and placement, assembly, site prep, and the electrical hookup. Delivery and positioning can cost extra, and kit assembly doesn't always include the wiring. Almost Heaven's professional assembly service, for example, leaves the electrical out.
Ask who handles the wiring: the 240V circuit needs an electrical permit and an inspection. If the business doesn't do electrical work, bring in a licensed electrician and get that quote at the same time, so you see the full cost before you commit. Our sauna wiring guide covers what to ask.
Settle who pulls the permits: you can pull your own electrical permit only for a single-family home you own and live in, and only if you do all the wiring yourself. If you're hiring the wiring out, agree on who handles the permit before work starts.
Building permit: Minnesota's building code exempts one-story detached accessory structures "used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses, and similar uses" up to 200 sq ft from a building permit (Minn. R. 1300.0120, subp. 4). The rule doesn't name saunas, so ask your city whether it treats a heated sauna as a similar use. [revisor.mn.gov]
Zoning still applies: an exempt structure still has to meet the code, local zoning and setbacks, and can't sit in a drainage or utility easement. [dli.mn.gov]
Electrical permit: wiring in a shed needs an electrical permit and inspection even when no building permit is required, and the rule itself says electrical permits are still required for exempt structures. [dli.mn.gov] [revisor.mn.gov]
Doing the wiring yourself: homeowners may pull their own electrical permit only for a single-family home they own and occupy, and must do all the work themselves. [dli.mn.gov]
Minneapolis: the city lists one-story tool and storage sheds under 200 sq ft as work that may not need a permit, and asks you to confirm with it first. [minneapolismn.gov]
Your city or county building department has the final word. Our permit guide lists the questions to ask, and the wiring guide covers the 240V circuit.
Plan the Rest of the Project
Installer quotes are easier to judge once you know what the rest of the job involves and what it costs. These guides cover each piece.

How Businesses Get on This List
Who's included: businesses with a Minnesota location or a stated Minnesota service area whose own website says they install, build on site, or build and deliver outdoor saunas. Retailers that sell saunas without saying they install them aren't listed.
Where the facts come from: every detail on a card comes from the business's own website (or a brand's dealer locator for the brands it carries), and each card links to the page we checked. A service badge appears only if the business's site states it. A missing badge just means the site doesn't mention that service, so ask.
What we leave out: star ratings, reviews, rankings, and "best" labels. Listings are alphabetical within each region, and no business pays to be listed.
Keeping it current: we re-check listings against each business's site and remove ones that close or stop offering the service. Our editorial policy explains how we research and check every listing.
Do I need a permit for a barrel sauna in Minnesota?
The structure may be exempt, but the wiring is not. Minnesota's building code (Minn. R. 1300.0120) exempts one-story detached accessory structures used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses, and similar uses from a building permit, as long as they're 200 square feet or less. The rule doesn't name saunas, so ask your city whether it treats a heated sauna as a similar use. The wiring needs an electrical permit and inspection even when no building permit is required, and your city or county building department has the final word.
Who installs barrel saunas in Minnesota?
This directory lists 18 businesses whose own websites say they install, build on site, or build and deliver outdoor saunas. Of those, 9 say they sell or build barrel models. Unless the business you hire handles the electrical, you'll also need a licensed electrician for the 240V circuit. Our sauna wiring guide covers what to ask before you sign.
How do I get installation quotes?
Call or email two or three of the businesses above in your region and send each one your sauna model, a few site photos, and the distance to your electrical panel. You can also use our quote request form to get quotes from local pros for wiring, a pad, or assembly. The form is separate from this directory, so a business listed here may not see your request.
